When I visit craft blogs I am always fascinated by how many little craft-a-longs, swaps, and joint projects people participate in. So I decided to join one myself: Tie One On, an apron show-and-tell blog. This month’s theme is "your favorite musical."
This was an easy one; my all-time favorite musical is Annie. So I made this orphan-inspired little number for E. I "winged" the pattern, and used red canvas and white bias tape for the apron. The patch and ties are made from a retro kitchen print and represent the blue apron Annie wore in the 80’s movie. The patch is a picture of a souvenir pin from the 20’s depicting the original Orphan Annie, which was actually a political war cartoon.
And lest you doubt my devotion to Annie, I offer this pic of me at five years old (complete with "Olympic" haircut – Mary Lou, anyone?):
