Can you guess what it is? I made a thrown-together terry cloth version of this several years ago for my grandpa when he had to use a walker. Now it's Nana's turn. She's asked for it several times and I just know she's going to be proud to "wear" it to the cafe at her new assisted living facility.
One side has pockets; the other is one large pocket for magazines and larger items. It secures over the bar of her walker saddle-style with these two snaps, which are my only disappointment. I wanted to use vintage buttons. But I couldn't find the button hole maker and Ash was due to wake up any minute.
The ties on the side are kinda cute – but they're meant to be tied to the side bars of the walker to keep the whole thing from flapping annoyingly as she scoots.
Can you believe it? That I made something, I mean. It's been so long! And I have another nursing-home project coming up soon (well, "soon" is relative). I think we may have a whole new category of crafty-things here!
I would love the pattern for the walker Tote.
Crys, just got off the phone with your Nana, and I asked her how she liked her walker bag. Imagine my surprise when she said she didn’t have it yet! I was worried I might have given you the wrong address? It’s room 220, 213 cool springs blvd, franklin (just in case). When she found out you’d made it, she told me to make sure I “nudged” you to get it mailed 🙂
O, I like snaps! xoC

What a precious gift for your grandmother. It’s beautiful..and I can tell it was made with a lot of love.
Oh my goodness Crystal… you simply are incredible. I know you are modest, but girl you are so so talented. Not only do you create wonderful things with your sewing machine…write beautifully… are a fantastic mother.. you also take amazing pictures! I love it! I think your nana must be so proud of you… she is going to be showing your gift off!
This is so great. My father-in-law was just commenting that someone should make a pocket for him to carry things in while he uses his walker, I might just have to whip one up for him.
Crystal, that is fantastic! I love it! What a sweet gift.
I’m sure all the other ladies with walkers are going to be so jealous!!
What a loving, thoughtful granddaughter you are.
Your grandma’s tote is going to be ooh-ed and aww-ed over! I love the fabric choices.
