I love everything about this photograph of Nana and Grandpa – that it’s black and white, that it’s such a candid moment, that Grandpa is wearing a suit and Nana a skirt – for a day at the park…but what I really, really love about this photo is that it was taken the day they met. How lucky is that? To capture the moments a relationship began.
I once spent an hour on the phone with Grandpa, shortly before I got married, while he told me all about their courtship and eventual wedding. I don’t remember all the details – just that the story was sweet and hilarious all at the same time.
J. is working some godawful shift and I probably won’t spend much of Valentine’s Day with him. Maybe I’ll call Grandpa and ask him his Valentine’s story again.
I love old pics. This story and pic is totally precious. My nana is so good about saving the old pics and I love spending time with her hearing her old stories. I have often thought I should have a tape recorder because I cant remember all the memories she shares. How do they remember them so well? They must have made minds better in the old days. Maybe things were just simpler so they could cherish the important stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhhh, I love this picture of my folks… didn’t know you had a copy. Thanks for the anniversary wishes, too (((hugs))) Love & miss you guys! ~ mom
