This is what you do if you've been collecting Christmas fabric for three years in a row with all the intentions in the world of making stockings and table toppers or other miscellaneous Christmas-themed items…and then it's gotten too late to bother: fold and stack them in a pretty wire basket and make it part of your Christmas decor anyway.
Look a little closer and you'll even see a pair of pants I thrifted from Goodwill a couple of years ago with the intention of turning it into a bag. Yep – I even squeeze laundry into my Christmas decor.
That basket beside it holds all the plastic bags left over from grocery trips (even though I keep meaning to take my cloth bags darnit). I stuck a small wreath and some large pine cones on top.
And that scalloped plate? I bought a 99 cent rub-on from Michael's and one popsicle-rubbing stick and ten minutes later I had a Christmas platter. Before you go calling me clever, I have to give credit to that idea to all the crafty bloggers out there who have been doing this for a while now with scriptures and poems and such.

I took your idea for the platter! I needed a gift idea for my mother-in-law (husband and I don’t spend much on gifts, ever) and I FINALLY had my idea, thanks to you! I think I spent about $9. Love your pictures!

i opened up your blog (i’ve been a stalker for awhile 🙂 ) & said to myself “oh wow…what a nice picture from a magazine…i wonder which magazine it is from”.
but NO. it is YOUR HOUSE. which makes me wildly jealous that you have an eye for finding such fabulous things 🙂
…and speaking of such fabulous things…i vote you post more pictures of your living spaces 🙂

Quite the clever girl, aren’t you?I love these ideas. In fact, think I’ll copy the basket/wreath/pinecones idea.

You are a genius =). I *love* the wire basket (and if I ever find one, I will totally be displaying my fabric stash in it).
